Whether you’re in your 20s, 30s or 40s, you can look and feel your best by making the right good choices. The new book Age-Defying Food Secrets™ by Dr. Paul Yanick presents a way of eating and living that will help you age gracefully and healthfully. You will learn how to eat foods that switch genes on or off that accelerate aging. The notion that food can have medicinal properties originated a long time ago when Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine stated “Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food.”

High-tech snake oil sales via web-based purveyors of overpriced anti-aging supplements and hormones want you to believe they can slow down or halt aging. Nothing could be further from the truth. The hyperbole has outpaced promise and science and doctors have recently issued cautionary warnings that these products can cause cancer and all sorts of degenerative diseases.

Since when have supplements been superior to foods or the body’s innate hormones? Where do these self-appointed experts in anti-aging medicine get off, with their fancy foams, gels and dietary supplements? Who asked them to fix the way nature gives us whole foods when raw food was one of the few things in the world that wasn’t ever broke?

It takes a very blinkered view of the world to gaze upon a tomato and claim that only lycopene is important out of hundreds of other nutrients inherent in the raw tomato. The idea that foods need to be redesigned or that certain constituents are only beneficial is preposterous. Nature has given us everything we need in a format that is thousands, if not millions of times more beneficial than supplements.

Typical multivitamin and hormone products available in supermarkets and drugstores do not include nature’s recipes for nourishment. Five large-scale clinical trials have found that vitamins do not decrease the incidence of heart disease or stroke. After these studies were published, the September 12 Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that insufficient evidence exists to recommend routine use of vitamin supplements to lower risks of heart disease and stroke. A recent study published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that nutritional supplements offered no heart benefit for women at risk for heart disease. The September issue of the Mayo Clinic Health Letter reported that there is little benefit to taking vitamins in supplement-from and that getting them from food is better. Yet scientific doubt has not stopped the promotion and marketing of these products, many of which have been shown to increase risks for cancer.

Regarding these supplements and the thin foundation of science that underlies their use and testing in the field of nutrigenetics, Helena Kennedy, who chairs the Human Genetics Commission, stated they are “overselling their capabilities.” Likewise the U.S. Government Accountability Office probed the legitimacy of internet nutrigenetics and found that these companies “mislead consumers.”
The true purpose of food is to nourish and facilitate healing and total body cleansing, allowing the body’s innate healing system to become fully operational. Healing or making a person whole must come from raw whole and fermented foods. It cannot come from fragmented, heated, pasteurized, homogenized, or isolated vitamins. Restoring integrity and balance with the Age-Defying Food Secrets™ presented in this book, can age-proof your body and mind.

Some of the most exciting research over the past few years has identified a readily assessable way to keep your body clean, healthy and stress-resilient. When you eat foods that clean your body of unwanted pollutants and nourish all the cells in your body simultaneously, you force the body to shed fat. Harmful toxins in our air, water and food are causing you to gain weight. Even with an improved diet and more exercise they halt your metabolism, resulting in rapidly increasing body fat and low energy levels.

Widespread insulin resistance and diabetes have been linked to pollutants. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey indicates that people who live in more polluted areas are 38 times more likely to have type 2 diabetes (New Scientist, October 2007). In Age-defying Food Secrets™ you will learn about a revolutionary detoxifying weight loss system designed to cleanse the body of age-accelerating pollutants, boost your metabolism and melt away pounds. ** You’ll look and feel younger.

A deficiency of food-based nutrients accelerates the wear and tear of aging. In fact, a growing body of clinical evidence indicates that if you’re taking hormones and vitamins and ignoring these foods, then:
• You may not be getting all the benefits you think you are.
• You may be taking hormonal or vitamin supplements that actually weaken your endocrine glands and accelerate cancer.
• You may be missing out on a wealth of health benefits possible only when the body has a sufficient supply of nutrients provided in foods and food concentrates presented in this book.

Hormones are produced by a gland or organ from the food nutrients presented in this book. Hormones function as chemical messengers that initiate, orchestrate, and control a host of bodily processes. Most importantly, hormones maintain the wholeness and balance of individual systems and organs in our bodies. When our hormones are in balance, we function optimally. Unfortunately, life in the modern world brings with it stresses that unbalance our hormones, such as tension, anxiety and pollution of our air, water and food supplies.

This book presents the startling truth about the lethal side effects of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). For example, woman taking progesterone, used as topical sterol diosgenins (wild yam) or synthetic progestins induce leaky blood vessels, activate inflammation, increase risk of cardiovascular disease, and encourage cancers to spread rapidly and metastasize (Rheum Dis Clin North Am, 2005; 31; Arch Neurol, 2005; 62; J Clin Pharmacol, 2005; 45; J Clin Endocrinol Metab, 2005; 90:1181-8; Fertil Steril, 2005; 84).

A growing number of scientists from varied disciplines have been working diligently on hormonal solutions to the age accelerating effects of modern life. They say it is possible to for us to prolong and enhance the later years by balancing our hormones (Journal of Gerontology 46 (1991): M145-50 Diabetes 37: 1595-1607; 1989; Diabetologia 30: 622-626; 1987). These medical experts have begun to unravel the complex forces involved in the body’s response to stress. Searching for explanations of why and how we age, they are putting together a detailed picture of how stress and a lack of certain food nutrients accelerate the aging process.

Leading gerontologists who study the aging process are saying that accelerated aging is a result of prolonged inflammation. One of the primary reasons the body generates inflammation is toxicity. We store instead of excrete toxins. Our bodies get dirty and perform inefficiently.

Hormones are central to the process of aging. The muscle atrophies as hormones decline; bones get fragile as estrogen declines; sex drive dwindles and regenerative processes drop as testosterone declines. More and more evidence suggests that getting the body to make these hormones naturally can turn back the biological clock. Indeed, a deficit in the body’s production of hormones is the most probable cause of the growing incidence of premature aging in the general population.

Don’t be fooled by statistics that says we live longer now than in the early 20th century. Longer life today simply means taking longer to die --- slowly, expensively, and with more suffering and disability. “If you talk to old people, what they are really desperate about is not the fact they they’re going to die but that they are going to be sick, dependent, have to rely on others,” says Luigi Ferrucci chief of the longitudinal studies section at the National Institute of Aging and director of the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging, the nation’s longest-running study of old people.

The new book Age-Defying Food Secrets™ by Dr. Paul Yanick
presents ways to minimize the debilitating frailty that besets an aging population. Many prominent gerontologists see aging in a different, much more hopeful light. A malnourished immune system goes haywire producing non-stop inflammation that underlies senescence and all chronic diseases like diabetes atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s, heart attack and cancer. “Inflammatory factors predict virtually all bad outcomes in humans,” says Dr. Russell Tracey, a professor of pathology and biochemistry at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Tracey also stated “It predicts having heart attacks, having heart failure, becoming diabetic; predicts becoming fragile in old age; predicts cognitive function decline, even cancer to a certain extent.”

Persistent inflammation is caused by nutrient deficiencies and toxicity of human and commensal-probiotic cells. But, you have to know what foods are best to fuel and cleanse your cells naturally. You have to acknowledge and understand that the symptoms of aging cannot be repaired with hormones, antacids, drugs, digestive enzymes, caffeine, or herbs.

The most misunderstood area of nourishment is related to the fact that we have to nourish two types of cells in our bodies. Your efforts to lose weight and cleanse your body will fail if you do not nourish both human and commensal (probiotic) cells. Probiotic means “in support of life.” In operational terms, I call probiotics commensal cells. These beneficial bacteria occupy 90-95 percent of our body’s total cell population and they are only found in fermented whole foods. These miracle healing organisms produce thousands of nutrients and compounds to help fuel your metabolism, stop inflammation and shed unwanted pounds. “They’re nature’s tiniest warriors,” affirms epidemiologist Dr. Lynne V. McFarland. You won’t hear about this anti-aging strategy from any of today’s popular nutritionists, naturopaths, or doctors of alternative medicine. But the overwhelming truth is that these commensals are a critical part of nature’s plan for us to stay vibrant and healthy.

Another misunderstood area of health care is detoxification. Virtually none of the popular methods of detoxification remove fat-storing xenoestrogens (man-made compounds that mimic the effects of estrogen) from your body nor employ the superpower of commensal cells. However, you have to cleanse your body of these toxins. Keeping your body’s inner ecology healthy and cleansed will make your fat-metabolizing hormones function more efficiently.

Eating foods from nature’s handiwork (fermentation) is as essential for our well-being and growth as sunshine, clean air, and water. Later in this book, I’ll teach you how to do this. While making changes in your life is never easy, focusing on the bigger picture and how you can prevent cancer and heart disease as you get older. As you learn to maximize nutrients to prevent the nutritional deficiencies that accelerate aging, you will reap the health benefits and be amazed how healthy your life has become.

While most people in the world are living longer than ever, statistics reveal that they are also more frail, less mobile, less mentally acute, and overweight as they enter their senior years (Discover, November 2007). Muscles atrophy and bones get fragile as hormones decline. Eighty percent of seniors are prematurely old and suffer from at least one chronic degenerative disease such as arthritis or diabetes while 50 percent have two or more such diseases. Does it have to be this way?

Why do the ravages of time work more quickly on the majority of senior citizens? Because when they are overweight, get diabetes, chronic inflammation, or other diseases --- they think about it in terms of taking a magical pill. But in reality, as you will learn, age-associated illness can only be prevented with lifestyle changes. You can’t say there’s one magic bullet. It’s got to involve whole foods, fresh air, clean water and exercise.

The search for pill-popping solutions has baby boomers attracted to the rapidly growing antiaging industry that promotes quick-fixes like hormones and stimulants. Since the over-65 age group is the fastest growing segment of the population (its ranks are predicted to swell even more at baby boomers reach 65 in 2011), a lifestyle plan is desperately needed that will help baby boomers live their life with grace in each epoch of life.

While scientists have yet to reach a consensus on why and how we age, cutting-edge discoveries point strongly to the fact that the hallmark of accelerated aging involves an inability to digest and metabolize (to draw nutrients from foods and convert them into energy), and an inability to detoxify environmental toxicants that mimic and block anti-aging hormones. Step-by-step, I will show you age-defying secrets that will result in meaningful changes in your life. These secrets will help to offset premature aging, caused by deficits in the body’s ability to produce hormones and keep them balanced.

When our joints ache for no good reason, when we can’t see or hear or run up the stairs the way we did when we were younger, our bodies are in short supply of these foods. This book provides badly needed explanations of how hormones and vital anti aging nutrients affect the body’s glands, organs and systems. Age-Defying Food Secrets™ by Dr. Paul Yanick offers a comprehensive explanation of age-defying foods which may help us extend lives and overcome disease. You’ll read latest findings on:
• youth-restoring and hormone-enhancing food ferments and concentrates and how they open a whole world of new, exciting and miraculous possibilities for achieving optimum health and longevity**
• how to naturally activate regenerator hormones like testosterone, progesterone, estrogen, growth hormone and more!**
• cutting-edge breakthroughs that go beyond isolated hormones, and the quick-fix remedies of the antiaging industry**

As you get more in touch with nature and stop using quick-fix, man-made hormones and vitamins, you’ll feel the powerful, healing-generating flow of natural hormones at work in your body. These natural hormones are part of the flow of life through our bodies. When these powerful life-giving and life-extending hormones are optimized in our bodies, we are healthier, stronger, and happier.

Natural hormones are made only by our bodies from whole food nutrients. They can’t be patented or made into a drug and synthetic hormones are cheap imposters of natural hormones that work against the body’s natural balance of hormones. For the first time, you’ll learn the truth about how the power of foods far surpasses man’s counterfeit hormones and vitamins. Nature gives us nourishment that most chemists and pharmacologists never dreamed of --- and without the side effects.
